Sunday, June 29, 2025, marks a pivotal 100- days milestone for President Netumbo Nandi Ndaitwah, Namibia’s first female head of State. Her initial 100 days have been characterized by foundational reforms and a renewed focus on key national challenges, earning commendation from many quarters for her administration’s nascent steps.
EARLY ACTIONS
Trefina Shivolo, is trailblazing the boxing circles a one of the few female boxing referees and judges in the country, in a male-dominated sport. She first started as a judge at the tender age of 16, before graduating as a referee in 2017.
During her time as a referee, she won numerous accolades and is currently a certified referee, which means that she eligible to officiate professional fights.
Former Blue Waters Sports Club chairperson, Robert Shimooshili has poured cold water on any conversation of acquiring Eleven Arrows.
Shimooshili relinquished his position as chairperson of the club after becoming the Namibia Football Association (NFA) president two years ago. Eleven Arrows has over the years been Blue Waters’ biggest rival, with the two clubs playing their home matches at the Kuisebmund Stadium, while their training grounds are separate.

Grade seven pupil at Ruimte Primary school in Rehoboth, male Dizano Schrader is making waves at the Standard Bank Junior Hockey initiative. The initiative started a few years ago with the aim of promoting the sport and develop young players. It is currently being played in 13 regions of across Namibia.
In an electrifying display of talent and determination, young players battled for supremacy at the just-concluded Namibian Junior National Table Tennis Competition. The competition, sponsored by Phoenix Insurance Namibia, was a crucial test for Namibia’s rising stars ahead of the African Union Sports Council (AUSC) Region 5 Youth Games slated for 5 to 12 July 2025.

Namibia Economic Freedom Fighters (NEFF) leader, Epafras Mukwiilongo, has dismissed growing speculation that he is preparing to retire from politics. Instead, the former parliamentarian said he is returning with unprecedented political energy and renewed fire.
South African talent scouts, Selby Williams, Ike Adonis also known as Ixa, Gracia Louw and Morné van Staden concluded a mentorship training of Namibian artists at Walvis Bay, recently. The scouts are part of the South African talent agency, the Afrikaanse Taal and Kultuurvereniging, ATKV-Crescendo. They maintain that mentorship is crucial for the development of an artist and would maximize their potential in the music industry.
In Namibia’s journey from colonialism to independence, many names have been etched into history. But not all of them have been celebrated equally. One such overlooked figure is Nahas Gideon Angula, a key architect of Namibia’s education system and a quiet giant of nation-building.
Angula served as Namibia’s first Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport after independence in 1990. Tasked with dismantling the apartheid-era education system, he led the transformation towards an inclusive and equitable system that aimed to serve all Namibians, not just a privileged few.
