Desert Foxes FC impacting women footballers

    Walvis Bay-based female football team Desert Foxes FC, has shared the challenges it encountered while competing in the NamPort Namibia Football Association (NFA) Erongo Women Regional League this season. Deserts Foxes FC was established in 2020 and are this season’s Namport NFA league champions, after winning 13 matches out of 14 and securing a title with four games still to go before the end of the a season.

Swakopmund-based tattoo artist, Sem Amuthitu says some of his clients include clergymen and women who come to him to get inked for personal reasons.  Amuthitu operates a professional tattoo studio from his apartment in the Tamariskia township.
He explained that misconceptions about tattoos often come from prejudice caused by cultural and religious beliefs.

Bank Windhoek returns choral showdown

Fans of choirs and revellers alike, are set to be treated to two-days of melody and rhythm with the return of the second edition of the Bank Windhoek Choral Celebration Concert, the commercial bank announced.  This second installation, which will be held from today, June 06 and, tomorrow June 07, will reaffirm the bank’s continued support of the development of the arts in Namibia. 

Organizers say Namibians prefer foreign acts

Following South African actress and model Pearl Thusi eleventh hour cancellation of an appearance at an event in Rundu, local event planners claim they prefer international acts due to the country's heavy foreign influence. The event was recently organized by Am Ludgerus Events Management rapper Lioness (real name La-Toya Hamutenya) "Not in this life" album tour. 

Descendants reduced to spectators at genocide vigil

Genocide Remembrance Day took place this year, the third time running for some descendants and the first for the Namibian government. This is amidst controversies, reservations and indeed disappointments. With some affected traditional leaders distancing themselves from it, as they have altogether shunned the day. Others who have been for the day, verged on boycotting it, only to decide on the eleventh hour to attend.

EU supports local creative craft entrepreneurs

Namibia’s creative craft entrepreneurs from the Khomas and Zambezi regions upskilled their knowledge in storytelling, branding, and business development at a recent workshop held in Windhoek.  The workshop which was conducted with the support of the European Union (EU) in Namibia, was aimed at laying the groundwork for sustainable growth in the craft sector.
