The Kaiyamo twins, Nande and Mandume will race at the South African national round three kart championship, which will be held from 13 June to 15 June, at Idube raceway. The twins who will race in the mini max category, have been a force to be reckoned with in go-karting and established themselves as one of the country’s leading racers in that sport.
Their father, Elmo Kaiyamo said the twins also joined up with the Toyota Gazoo Racing team, which will help them develop further in their racing career. “The twins are signed up by Toyota Gazoo Racing South Africa as their junior academy drivers in the mini max class. At just 10 years old, they are part of a program designed to develop and nurture young talent for the global stage. We are excited to be part of the Toyota Gazoo Racing team,” said Kaiyamo.
“Currently, they are racing full-time in South Africa for the South African Rotax Max Challenge championship. So far this year, they have competed in six races at Killarney, Idube, Zwartkops, Formula K, and Vereeniging,” added Kaiyamo. He also said the twins will also be racing in some few races in Europe, although no details regarding their participation there is confirmed.
In April this year, the twins took part in the MSA South African Rotax Max Challenge, with Nande finishing in 13th place, while his twin brother in that race was forced into an early retirement after one lap. They, however they showed their continued growth in the fiercely competitive mini max field.
“This year has provided them with a valuable learning experience as they race against some of the best drivers in South Africa. They are passionate about karting and are eager to continue pursuing the sport. Additionally, they plan to participate in several races in Europe.”
