Mukoya denies Chula, Tops job offers

Former Namibian Correctional Service (NCS) and Young African head coach, Augustinus ‘Axaro’ Mukoya, has denied rumours that he is heading to Eeshoke Chula Chula FC as assistant coach, or taking over at former club Cuca Tops FC.
Mukoya helped NCS win the Southern Stream First Division, but the Namibia Football Association (NFA) did not promote NCS to the Debmarine Premiership, due to rules that restrict teams with the same owners from competing in the same NFA-administered competition. NCS and Khomas Nampol who are already in the premiership, are considered to be owned by one entity – the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security.
Mukoya also coached Young African following a potential merger negotiation between the Gobabis club and NCS. That deal however collapsed last month and Mukoya subsequently left Young African.
In a recent interview, the former Chief Santos, Cuca Tops, and Brave Warriors striker said he is open to coaching jobs, but it would be difficult to work outside Mariental, where he is employed full-time.
Eeshoke Chula Chula FC plays home matches in Oshakati, while Cuca Tops is based in Rundu.
“I am currently working as a security service officer at NCS, and it will be difficult for me to be transferred at the moment. Coaching Cuca Tops is not an issue, but availability every weekend is. Neither team (Chula and Tops) has approached me,” said Mukoya.
He said coaching NCS and Young African were highlights of his career, with no regrets, even at Young African, where he was replaced while the team competed for the Debmarine Premiership title and the MTC Maris Cup final against African Stars.
Young African is currently second in the Debmarine Premiership with 22 points from 12 matches, the same as leaders Stars, who have a game in hand.
“I have no regrets coaching NCS, which marketed me in Namibian football by winning the southern first division with one loss. Young African, whose playing rights we acquired, saw us win and draw games. The team was second and conceded three goals from 10 games.
“In the MTC Maris Cup, we reached the semi-finals. I have no regrets at Young African, despite the misunderstanding that led to Mali Ngarizemo taking over. These achievements have made me popular, and I look forward to any opportunity. As stated, I have not been contacted by any team; these are just rumours,” said Mukoya.
