N$412,000 for Bank Windhoek School Feeding Scheme

Bank Windhoek’s Corporate Social Responsibility and Sponsorships Manager, Audrey Mostert; Rocky Crest Primary School Teacher, Veonguavi Movirongo; Rocky Crest Primary School Principal, Sylvia Kangumine; Imago Dei Project Coordinator, Millinda Coffee and Imago Dei Director, André van Deventer.

Bank Windhoek this week handed over funds amounting to N$412,000 to the Imago Dei Welfare and Poverty Relief project at Rocky Crest Primary School in Windhoek. This marks the third consecutive year that the two entities have collaborated on this school feeding initiative.
With the funds, the Imago Dei Welfare and Poverty Relief initiative will facilitate the Bank Windhoek School Feeding Scheme, which will provide meals for schoolchildren at seven schools in seven different towns across Namibia. The identified towns are Windhoek, Rehoboth, Mariental, Henties Bay, Gobabis, Opuwo, and Tsumkwe.
“Schools can give children a chance to have a nutritious meal for the day. This approach enables them to perform much better academically. Oftentimes, this meal is one of the few, if not the only, meals they will have for the day,” said project coordinator Millinda Coffee, emphasizing that the feeding scheme “has been essential for school learners.”
Confidente was informed that a team of volunteers and teachers assists in preparing and serving meals at the various schools.
The bank maintained that “supporting initiatives such as the Imago Dei Welfare and Poverty Relief project is part and parcel of its ethos in bringing about beneficial societal and economic improvements through its activities and operations, aiming to make Namibia a better place for all its citizens.”
