The Bank of Namibia, jointly with the Ministry of Finance and the Namibia Financial Institutions Supervisory Authority (NAMFISA), recently, launched the Namibia Financial Sector Transformation Strategy (NFSTS) 2025–2035. It is said to be a clear, 10-year roadmap to building a stronger, more inclusive and digitally driven financial sector that works for all Namibians.

The Minister of International Relations and Trade, Ambassador Selma Ashipala-Musavyi, confirmed that six Namibian nationals were recently repatriated from Myanmar and Laos with the assistance of the United Nations (UN) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM). The four women and two men were repatriated as part of efforts to combat trafficking in persons.

Hugo Hahn and Monique du Plessis were crowned the 2025 Nedbank Namibian Mountain Bike XCC, XCO and Cross-Country Championships, after two days of fierce competition at the Towerbos Trails, recently.
The event was organised by the Namibia Cycling Federation (NCF). Hahn produced a dominant performance in the cross-country olympic (XCO) to win the elite men’s title by coming home in a time of 01:21:27, followed by Martin Freyer, who clocked 01:26:55 and Theuns van der Westhuizen in third place after ending on 01:31:40.

THE country’s senior men rugby side, nicknamed the Welwitschias is in danger of losing out for a place at the 2027 Rugby World Cup, following a defeat to Zimbabwe in the final of the Africa Cup over the past weekend in Kampala, Uganda. The match recorded 30-28 points, which resulted in Zimbabwe qualifying for its first rugby world cup since 1991.
