Namibia’s President, Dr Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, has concluded back-to-back diplomatic engagements in Botswana and Zambia, in a continuation of her regional outreach since assuming office in March 2025. The working visits, held from 15 to 16 May, form part of a strategic recalibration of Windhoek’s foreign policy posture, aimed at enhancing bilateral relations and accelerating economic cooperation across Southern Africa.

A total of 60 Chinese companies are registered to conduct business activities in Namibia, according to Chinese ambassador Zhao Weiping.  This, Weiping says, is a sign of deepening bilateral cooperation and growing economic ties between Namibia and China. 
Speaking in Windhoek on Monday, Weiping shared that the registered companies provide a wide range of services similar to those offered in China.

THE secretary-general of the Namibia Traditional Sports and Games Federation, Jan Marais has told Confidente that the federation is going to showcase various traditional sports at the upcoming Nama Festival. The festivities are scheduled to take place from 29 May to 01 June 2025, in Keetmanshoop. The sport codes to be displayed are Amagoes (fill up the bottle), Owela (traditional chess), Skululu (traditional cricket), Uma (jumping the rope) and many others.

VETERAN Namibian table tennis player, Christa Mrozek, who is the oldest female in that sport locally, says she owes her healthy status to eating chocolate every day.  The German-born athlete, has been playing table tennis when she was still in her early teens while in Europe and relocated to Namibia with her late husband in the 1970s.

FIFA’s technical expert John Kaputa has revealed plans to propose to the world football governing body a new artificial turf for the Namibia Football Association (NFA) technical center. 

This, he says, is due to the fact that the current turf at the center is dilapidated and outdated. 
Kaputa indicated this in an interview with Confidente recently, where he maintained that the current turf has been used for more than a decade now and has outlived its lifespan.

The battle-lines have been drawn in the FNB Women Super Leagues (WSL), as three formidable teams are set to battle it out in the coveted title race.    These are the Beauties FC leading the way in the top, followed by reigning champions FC Ongos Ladies and in third place are African Stars Queens.

Beauties are topping the chart with 42 points from 16 league matches followed by FC Ongos with 41 points from 17 games and African Stars Queens in third position with 39 points from 17 matches.
