Otjozondjupa Governor in tribal jobs spat
By Patience Makwele
Otjozondjupa regional Governor John Julius //Khamuseb’s stands accused of advancing the recruitment of certain tribal groups or those from specific areas whenever employment opportunities emerge within the region. This comes after //Khamuseb’s authored a letter dated 13 August 2025 in which he claimed that residents from “Otjozondjupa, Omaheke and Kunene” regions, are being excluded from employment opportunities in his region, especially by the Central Northern Regional Electricity Distributor (CENORED).
He accused the power distributor of nepotism, corruption, tribalism and favouritism by employing Namibians who do not hail from the three regions. In the letter addressed to CENORED, //Khamuseb said his office had been “approached by disgruntled potential candidates who were excluded from interviews, some of whom had worked for CENORED as contractors for more than three years.”
//Khamuseb further advised the company’s board to “put aside all interviews and investigate the allegations and bring all the culprits to book”.
However, the none-compliance by CENORED to his request, has prompted //Khamuseb to pen yet another letter dated 03 November 2025, addressed to all mayors and chief executive officers within the Otjozondjupa region, the entire regional council, Nampower and the Electricity Control Board, calling for an emergency meeting scheduled for 18 November 2025 on the matter.
The meeting is set to discuss what he terms “serious governance issues".
