Windhoek’s Tiny Stars Shine at 3rd Annual Baby Expo

This past weekend, the real stars were the giggling, gurgling, and utterly adorable babies who stole hearts at the 3rd Annual Baby Expo. Held at the scenic Droombos Estate, the event transformed into a wonderland of pint-sized charm, with its highlight being the Facebook Baby Photo Competition, which showcased 92 of Namibia’s most photogenic tots.
The competition, a virtual gallery of adorable toddlers, saw parents proudly flaunt their little ones online. After thousands of likes and shares, four tiny winners emerged: Eric Tshimakela (1st), Florance Ashipala (2nd), Fillipus Nation Shuuya (3rd), and Aaron Brinkmann (4th).
“The 3rd Annual Baby Expo 2025 exceeded our expectations, bringing together families, experts, and businesses in a vibrant celebration of early childhood,” said organizer Magnolia Lawrence, whose brainchild expo has blossomed from 13 exhibitors in 2023 to 40 this year.
Though the planned Kiddies Pageant was paused due to national mourning, the Expo buzzed with laughter as parents and their mini-guests explored Baby Gym play zones, face-painting by Enchanted Strokes, and interactive learning spaces by Gifted Minds. Nearby, parents unwound at Droombos’ chic Beer Garden, sipping gin while swapping diaper-duty stories.
Participation from major brands, including Pampers, Bepanthen, and Biostrath, proved essential for attending parents and small businesses alike. Vendors like Love & Lullabies (organic onesies) and Chipper Hand Crafted Wooden Toys were able to showcase their unique offerings, while health and wellness brands like Water Baby Spa and Mekenificent offered relaxation fit for, well, babies.
Next year’s Expo, set for March 28, 2026, promises even more squeals of delight. Organizers plan a revamped voting system via a dedicated SMS line or website to crown future baby champions and hinted at shuttle services with transportation services, Yango and InDrive, as well as live radio coverage to amplify attendance and the fun.
“The overwhelming support from our parents, exhibitors, and attendees truly showcased the importance of community in parenting and child development. We are grateful for the incredible energy and look forward to making next year’s event even bigger and better,” Lawrence concluded.
