Young Entrepreneur Paves the Way in Motorcycle Training

In the bustling city of Windhoek, where opportunities are often scarce, young entrepreneur Desmond Tjozongoro is carving his own path in the business world.
A proud graduate of the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) with a degree in Transportation Management, Tjozongoro is the co-owner of NamRiders, a motorcycle driving school, and Destiny Motor Solutions, a consultancy specializing in vehicle registration and roadworthy bookings at NaTIS.
Tjozongoro's journey into entrepreneurship was fuelled by the wise words of the late former President Dr. Hage G. Geingob, who once declared, “The government is not God; the youth must create their own jobs.” Inspired by this call to action, he took a leap of faith into the business world while still pursuing his bachelor's degree.
“I started as a motorcycle instructor with NamRiders while studying full-time,” Tjozongoro recalled. “It was a challenging time, but the flexibility of scheduling my own clients allowed me to earn an income without compromising my education.”
Recognizing a gap in the market, he and his business partner identified the need for more motorcycle training schools in Windhoek. While driving schools for cars and heavy vehicles are abundant, there are only a handful of motorcycle training schools. Among them, NamRiders stands out as one of the leading and longest-serving institutions, providing specialized training for code A licenses.
Tjozongoro's business awareness didn’t stop there. To maximize their time and resources, he and his partner expanded their services under Destiny Motor Solutions, offering vehicle registration, roadworthy bookings, and change of ownership services at NaTIS. This diversification has allowed them to serve a broader clientele while ensuring a steady flow of income.
“Entrepreneurship is not always smooth sailing,” he admitted. “One of the biggest challenges we face is maintaining a consistent flow of clients. However, this has pushed us to explore other revenue streams within the transportation sector.”
His business ventures are not only about financial gain but also about creating a lasting legacy. Many of his clients have shared their own inspiring journeys, motivating him to build something that will serve future generations.
“I’ve learned that success is not just about working alone but also about collaboration,” he said. “Sometimes you need to align yourself with the right people who can propel you towards your destiny. As we say in my home language: ‘Ombupu isekamena kondeu’ – one hand washes the other.”
Looking ahead, Tjozongoro envisions expanding Destiny Motor Solutions into a one-stop shop for all transportation needs. His goal is to offer a comprehensive service that includes training for code B and C1 licenses, which are in high demand. “We would like to add codes B and C1 licenses, which are the most sought-after,” he said.
With an eye for opportunity, Desmond Tjozongoro is proving that young entrepreneurs can thrive in Namibia’s competitive business landscape. As he continues to grow his ventures, he remains committed to empowering others and transforming the transportation sector one ride at a time.
