Out-of-school youth and marginalized groups as well as students at the Namibia Community Skills Development Foundation (COSDEF) and the Welwitchia University are the biggest beneficiaries in a partnership forged between the two institutions recently.
COSDEF and Welwitchia University have committed to offering scholarships and fellowships to deserving students in order to promote equitable access to higher education.

Furthermore, a memorandum of understanding signed between the two institutions, calls for the harmonization of qualifications and resource sharing to improve educational quality among others.

Welwitchia University’s acting vice-chancellor, Professor Marius Hedimbi, described the partnership as a timely and strategic collaboration that will benefit Namibia on multiple fronts. “We will enhance educational opportunities, drive impactful research, and deepen our engagement with communities, ultimately contributing to Namibia’s socio-economic development,” said Hedibi.

COSDEF’s executive manager, Paavo Kamutukwata, echoed this sentiment, adding that the partnership will empower communities through education and innovation.

“We are excited to collaborate with Welwitchia University to expand skills development, promote innovation, and create pathways for students and professionals. Together, we will build a vibrant ecosystem of learning and growth,” Kamutukwata stated.

The partnership is expected to roll out several impactful programmes in the coming months, including staff development workshops, integrated skills outreach, and initiatives aimed at advancing Namibia’s education and training sectors.

A joint coordinating committee was established to oversee the implementation of the agreement and ensure that all planned programmes are executed effectively and aligned with the shared goals of both institutions.
