The country’s U-17 girls' team faced a tough challenge against Uganda’s U-17 side last month, losing 18-1 on aggregate in the 2025 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Despite the heavy defeat, defender Shiwaovanhu Haukongo showed bravery and courage for the Namibian team.

Haukongo, a 16-year-old attacker for FNB Women Super League (WSL) side Eleven Arrows, scored Namibia’s only goal across the two legs. This goal came in the second leg, which Uganda won 8-1.

Julius Chooses Springboks Over Welwitschias

Highly rated 20-year-old Namibian-born rugby player Jurenzo Julius, has decided to play for South Africa instead of his country of birth, having already represented South Africa's U-20 side.

Nicknamed "The Boogie Man," Julius attended Paul Roos Gymnasium in Stellenbosch, Western Cape, South Africa, which facilitated his path to playing for the Springboks.

Sport Ministry Denies Plans to Hand Over Rundu Stadium

Despite previous reports suggesting an imminent handover of the Rundu Sport Stadium to the Rundu Town Council, the Ministry of Sport, Youth and National Service has refuted such a move.
The stadium has long suffered from a poorly maintained playing surface due to insufficient water supply, prompting calls from local football enthusiasts for a transfer of ownership to the town council. This, they argue, would ensure better upkeep.

Cuca Tops Netball Club from Rundu and Extreme Netball Club from Ongwediva have earned their spots in the country’s premier netball league, the MTC Namibian Netball Premier League (NNPL). 
They secured their positions after finishing third and fourth, respectively, at the recent playoffs in Windhoek.

FC Ongos Ladies accused of Withholding Foreign Player’s Transfer Fees

South African women’s football club, Msasa FC Ladies, has accused Namibian club FC Ongos Ladies of unethical behaviour, alleging the non-payment of transfer fees for Mbali Yalo. Yalo was deported from Namibia last year due to overstaying her visa.
Yalo’s signing in August was intended to bolster FC Ongos Ladies’ performance in the CAF Women’s Champions League and the FNB Women Super League. However, her deportation by immigration officials, due to a lack of a work permit, disrupted these plans.

Kuisebmond Stadium renovations to be completed in April

Renovation work on the Kuisebmund stadium, home of premier league giants Blue Waters, will be completed in April, the Walvis Bay Municipality’s acting manager for public relations and customer service, Anita Kaihiva has  The renovations, which will cost the Walvis Bay municipality N$3 million started in November last year and will be undertaken by contractor Element Consulting Engineers.
According to Kaihiva, the renovations are an investment into the community.
