Women league final showdown this weekend

BEAUTIES FC are the First National Bank (FNB) Women Super League (WSL) league champions after claiming the title a fortnight ago, after their 1-0 victory over Windhoek City on May 24, at the NFA Technical Center in the capital.
Their victory ended FC Ongos dominance in the women’s game, a sign that women football has grown and competitions for top honours is expected to be even tougher come next season. This weekend, the technical center will play host to the conclusion of the league and the champions will be officially crowned as well as few individual awards will be on show.
The FNB WSL attracted a lot of people, in particular, the technical center, which is the home of women football in Namibia. On the final day, the technical center will play host to the final match between the champions Beauties FC from Okahandja versus African Stars Queens from Ongwediva at 15H00.
Meanwhile, the Independence Stadium in Windhoek is also scheduled to host a match between NUST Babes from the capital and Namib Daughters of Swakopmund at 09H00. Another match set for Independence Stadium is between Windhoek City and Khomas NamPol at 11H00, while UNAM Stadium will see UNAM Bokkies entertaining FC Ongos at 11H00.
Outside WIndhoek, Okahandja will see the host Okahandja FC welcoming V-Power Angels at 11H00. Second place in the league is currently occupied by Ongos FC because of its superior goal difference of 75 to African Stars 31. Fourth place position is up for grabs with three teams tussling for that spot.
These are UNAM Bokkies with 36 points, followed by Khomas NamPol with 35 points and Arrows Ladies also with 35 points.
Julinho Athletic, which has been hit by a lot of injuries, had a disappointing campaign and will end the season in seventh place regardless of the result from teams below them.
Julinho Athletic has 30 points, compared to the 2022/2023 season when they took second place. They finished in the third place last season. The most improved side in the league is African Stars, a team that finished seventh last season to third this season. Okahandja FC and Namib Daughters will play in their last dance in the top flight after seasons in the league.
