Walvis Bay young voices head to SA

The Walvis Bay Gymnasium Primary School choir will compete against 49 other choirs for top honours at the coveted South African Choral, ATKV Applous finals on the 30th of June 2025 in Pretoria. The choirs was selected from a pool of 292 groups across Namibia and South Africa to participate in finals, according to Otniel Tjombe, the choir director. 

Young advocates tackle 720km for healthcare

Five young advocates are taking on a demanding two-week cycling journey from Windhoek to Swakopmund and back, covering a total of a 720 kilometre.  The initiative aims to raise awareness around HIV prevention, equitable healthcare access and climate justice by combining public health advocacy with zero emissions travel.

Ondangwa raises over N$740k for expo

The Ondangwa Town Council has successfully raised over N$740 000 through its trade and industrial exhibition fundraising gala dinner, held last Sunday.  The town’s spokesperson Petrina Shitalangaho-Mutikisha shared the news with Confidente on Thursday. The event, officiated by Prime Minister Dr. Elijah Ngurare was aimed at supporting the upcoming Ondangwa Trade and Industrial Exhibition.

Residents Unhappy with Food Distribution in Moses ǁGaroëb Constituency

    Tensions are rising in the Moses ǁGaroëb constituency after several flood-affected residents claimed they were unfairly excluded from a food aid distribution programme facilitated by businesswoman Stina Wu and constituency officials. Last week, Wu, a Chinese entrepreneur, donated approximately 300 food parcels valued at N$40 000 to assist vulnerable residents struggling as a result of recent floods.
