The Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) says it has assembled 2,894 teams to manage 4,861 polling points across all 121 constituencies and 59 local authorities, ahead of the regional and local authority elections scheduled for November this year.
ECN spokesperson De Wet Siluka said the commission is also in the process of recruiting and training over 21,000 polling officials to ensure a smooth and credible election process.

A political storm is brewing over the National Youth Development Fund (NYDF), with SWAPO Party and opposition councillors trading barbs on the fairness and transparency of the fund’s first round of allocations. The N$500 million fund, launched earlier this year attracted over 11,000 applications nationwide but approved only 42 projects, sparking widespread frustration among unsuccessful applicants and their representatives.

ONE of the country’s most exciting female table tennis players, Lian Gebauer is heading to Tunisia to take part in the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Senior Championship, from 12 October to 19 October. The 16 year-old has always been on top of her game whenever representing the country at any international competition, with the ITTF Senior Championship not expected to be different to her as far success is concern.

ONESMUS Kuumbwa eats, drinks and sleep football and usually dons sports apparel whether conducting training or busy in class teaching mathematics.  He also happens to be a school teacher at the town of Rehoboth. The past weekend, Kuumbwa was spotted on the touchline for the Hardap girls Regional U-15 side that was participating in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) African Schools Championship that was held in Windhoek, with his side losing 3-0 in the final to the host Khomas team.
